A magical day

Thanksgiving day - Nov 2011

Finally the 'Big day' with the 'Big moment' arrived; the day which the cute little twins were born & the day when I was reborn as a new mother :-)
Both Kavya & Oviya were born at 36 weeks which is considered to be a full term for twins (40 weeks is the full term for a single baby). Kavya weighed 5' 2 lbs and Oviya weighed 5' 10 lbs which was a pretty healthy weight.

What made me wonder was, they both had a difference of 3 days while growing in the womb, but born with a minute difference ;-)

The rough delivery suddenly became smooth when the tiny eyes opened to see me. The whole world vanished before my eyes & I could see only those tiny munchkins. There was a moment of pride & a thought of unconditional love flashing through my heart. I've never handled a newborn in my whole life. The moment I took Kavya & Oviya in my hands, I felt like I became a professional ;-)

Two peas in a pod!

At 6 weeks, we found out that we're having twins (yippee!!!)  & were so much thrilled :-). It was like a dream to see two tiny babies in two different sacs. Now I believed in luck, destiny, fate - whatever :-)

The babies were growing up pretty fast. At 14 weeks, we could see almost all the features of the babies. It was a lifetime experience to hear their heartbeats and feel their tiny movements. Both were lying in the opposite direction, kicking each other ;-)

There wasn' t enough space though after the 7th month. They were tightly packed like a sand witch and I was feeling their tiny toes, arms & heads popping up here & there. Imagine, there were 4 arms, 4 legs, 20 fingers & 20 toes and 2 heads  :-P . Those were the best times of my life. Even though I had aches , swellings & sleepless nights, I cherish every moment of my pregnancy. My growing babies were making me beautiful from inside :-)

A new beginning

April 18 2011

When I found out that I was pregnant, I became super excited. I couldn't wait to tell my husband, Yuvi. Somehow, I held the surprise till the evening & went to the nearby shop and bought an ice cream glass, some alphabet stickers and 2 small baby dolls (I had no idea of having twins by then). I told my hubby to take me 2 an Arabian restaurant in the evening for which he agreed without questioning ;-)

The Arabian restaurant looked exactly like the place I was looking for to reveal the surprise :-) .  Without arising Yuvi's suspicion, I went to the owner of the restaurant & told him to bring dessert in the ice cream cup which said, "U're going 2 be a dad!". I also gave him the 2 doll babies to keep them over the top of the dessert. The owner was excited as well & accepted with a smile. We finished the appetizer & the main dish. My heartbeat was rising as I couldn't wait any longer for the dessert ;-). Finally, the awaiting moment  - the owner himself prepared the dessert and gave it decorated with baklava & fruits. Yuvi did not expect such a sweet surprise :-D He was speechless out of joy & I couldn't hide my blushing :-)

Thanks to the Arabian restaurant owner who made this moment extra special & beautiful :-)
